BHRUT supply Asthma statistics today
Thank you to BHRUT for supplying asthma statistics earlier today. My request is listed below, BHRUT would not supply full postcodes, but would supply the first half plus one other digit of the second half.
If existing research is correct, this information should point to asthma attendance linked to living nearby to busy roads.
There is a lot of information provided so if anyone wants to investigate as well they are very welcome.
The data is at 6838 & the 6804 dated 1st September the link is https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/asthma_statistics?nocache=incoming-1631294#incoming-1631294
Dear Mr Walker
Re: Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOI) request ref: 6842
Thank you for your further email dated 10 August 2020 in response to our
email to you of the same dated under reference FOI 6804.
Request
I am writing to request an internal review
of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust's handling of
my FOI request 'Asthma Statistics'. your reference is 6804.
Thank you for the 6000 lines of data provided.
(A) I requested A&E attendances
per your point (1) (b) per your letter to me dated 10th August 2020 information
about A&E attendances due to asthma which did not need in-patient care.
While I welcome BHRUT's decision to provide 6000 lines of data, I ask for
internal review for BHRUT to provide totals.
For example I seek the
Total attendances for due to asthma at KGH & QH for 2018 and 2019
KGH 2018 1000
QH 2018 2084
KGH 2019 1000
QH 2019 1916
Total 6000
My figures to arrive at a 6000 total are just guesses I seek BHRUT's
information which appears relatively easy for BHRUT to interrogate your data
base to obtain.
(B) While BHRUT has supplied
children attending A&E for asthma amongst the 6000 data sets sent, I seek
the total numbers of children at KGH and QH for 2018 and 2019 as separate
figures for each hospital. A total of 4 pieces of information per the template
at my paragraph (A) above.
(C) Per my internal review request
for 6784, I seek the first character of the second half of a postcode, For
example if the first half is IG3 (8 or 9) or RM17 (I seek 5,6 or 9)
(D) I seek postcode totals, for each
of the two years and hospital locations. For example IG3 (or IG3 8 and 9 if my
appeal is successful) how many went to KGH in 2018 and 2019, the same for QH
and the numbers of children and adults.
Substantial development is being planned close to busy roads. It is reasonable
for BHRUT to supply more information for the public to discover if living near
a main road is linked to increased asthma risk.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the
Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/asthma_statistics
Response
Please
note The Freedom of Information Act obliges us to share any recorded
information that is held at the time of a request being made. It does not
require us to create a response in order to comply with a request. What we have provided is an excel sheet with
the data you have requested. In order to
assist you further, we have added filters that will allow you to select the
information you require at any one time.
For
instance, by selecting KGH in the year 2018, you can see at the bottom of the
sheet that there were 1409 attendances. You can then add a further filter for
paediatric patients and this will provide a figure at the bottom of the sheet
of 611 patients.
We
have revised the postcodes as per your request.
Your
request in part (D) is new and was not requested as part of your initial
enquiries. As per explanation above, the filters will allow you to extract the
data as you need and in any combination that you require.
The
attached excel sheet therefore answers your request in full.
