Photoshoot 1st March 2025 midday outside Tesco Goodmayes Store Goodmayes: Keith Prince in attendance

Following the intervention of Keith Prince I am delighted to report the new application, which is expected to include a hotel in the space where the school was going to go, will now go a planning committee.

This is better for our campaign because we can lobby elected councillors about the new application far better than council officers behind doors.

This is letter to be delivered:

Dear Sir

We write on behalf of a WhatsApp campaign community group called the stop the Tesco Tesco Towers.  Campaign Supporters oppose the high rise planned development. There is a spectrum of views within the campaign, some wanting no development whereas others would support a smaller development. Following the intervention of Keith Prince AM, we are aware a new development plan will go to a planning committee shortly. Freedom of Information requests indicate the new plan may include a hotel where the school was planned. Whilst we do not want the development to go ahead, we request you to keep the entire footprint of the school, no longer required, and instead provide community facilities in the space vacated, such as a GP practice and sports facilities. We very much hope another judicial review can be avoided, however, if no GP facility is provided at the site, we hope to seek legal opinion in due course as to whether the Council is failing in its duty to take the NHS into account when building a series of High Rise developments close to each other without providing sufficient NHS resources.

We believe that this high rise housing development scheme will not improve this currently over developed area in any sense as there would be an adverse social and environmental impact. if it went ahead and this amount of construction will also create a great amount of air pollution locally as well."

We hope to hear from you soon regarding our request.

Regards

AW and others
