Draft Newsletter to go out tomorrow at school gates
Dear parents at Barely Lane, Chadwell & Eastcourt
Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers
The proposed development at Tesco Goodmayes is a threat to our health on air pollution grounds.
A 2019 case showed a developer, Gladman, lost in court on clean air grounds. Redbridge Council has recently found the Tesco planning application defective on clean air grounds too offering hope that the Tesco application may fail on clean air grounds. To remedy the defective application, Redbridge has instructed Tesco to do further pollution monitoring.
So far we do not know where the monitors have been/will be placed, it seems reasonable to locate one on the Barley Lane Primary playing field and another on Barley Lane Park, as that is used by Eastcourt School. Chadwell has a pollution monitor already.
The Tesco application may come to committee on 19th March. A local business has been kind enough to provide a room for the campaign at 7pm this Thursday 5th March. The room seats five, please contact me if you would like to attend. The purpose is to sort out a work rota, who is going to deliver literature to what roads etc. If more than 5 want to attend I will look to book a larger room.
A big thank to Nickel Press at 703 High Road IG3 8SG is supplying a limited number of free campaign window posters.
The views in this newsletter are my own and should not be taken to have the support of any others involved in the campaign including Nickel Press. I would hope the campaign will get professional advice as to the best arguments to make at the planning committee.
Regards
Andy Walker
