Dear Residents
22nd June 2020
The Tesco Goodmayes
Application is being rigged
The
campaign team is looking to hire Prof Peckham, whose evidence was
preferred by the courts in the Gladman case last year, the first time
in England where a development was stopped on air quality grounds.
The claim of rigging is mine alone.
Prof
Stephen Peckham and Dr Ashley Mills from the Centre for Health
Services Studies at The University of Kent said "The proposed
development is in an area of high pollution where NO2 measurements
already exceed legal objective limits at two local primary schools
(Winston Way and Chadwell Heath). Further development requires
careful scrutiny to protect the health of residents yet it would
appear that the local authority has been neither careful nor
objective with regards to air quality in the context of this planning
application."
This is a developing
story, I have said to the Council that the October air quality 2019
report should go the planning committee. At time of writing they have
not confirmed this is the case, updates will be available at the
site. We need our own air report written by Prof Peckham to challenge
the Council and to persuade Councillors to vote against the
development. I would be grateful if you could view the Crowdfunding
appeal at the link below and consider helping the appeal.
