At time of writing, Redbridge Council still has not sent the stage 2 referral letter to Sadiq Khan to pass the Tesco Toxic Towers. The photo below shows Ashburn Holder, Liberal Democrats, Keith Prince, Conservative GLA Member, RoseMary Warrington Green Party.
The pledge walk is to collect promises for funding should the Mayor pass the development and we go take Redbridge Council to court. The first target is £10,000 which will cover the Council's costs if we lose. £10,000 will mean further fund raising to get professional advice.
This seems daunting but has been done elsewhere. Gemma Cameron successfully raised funds and won against Manchester Council on air pollution grounds for example. Campaign team members say

Af - a local resident says
"Broken promises, no opposition and deficient scrutiny of planning applications - This is what Redbridge residents in Ilford south have had to contend with. A council leader who has failed to stand up to the proposals, reinforced by councillors who continue to ignore the objections of residents. We are facing an estimated influx of up to 10,000 new flats and 30,000 more people in one of the most populated areas of Redbridge. It will put a strain on travel, healthcare and air quality. This will be compounded for those that need housing the most and won’t be able to afford it. The people of Redbridge deserve better from those who they voted into power. All developments should be put on hold until there is a cumulative impact analysis which will undoubtedly show the true destruction of building tower blocks along a high road right next to traffic hotspots. It is damning that the residents feel compelled to fight and finance this injustice alone but great to see the people coming together!"
Paul Scott says
"This Tesco Goodmayes housing scheme has to be stopped for various social, environmental and public health reasons. Also there will be a great strain on local health, education as well as transport services if it is allowed to go ahead."
Andy Walker says
The Tesco development is beside a busy polluting road. The Council has refused to carry out a study on the impact of three developments, Tescos, Homebase and the Seven Kings Car Park, all happening at the some time. On the face of face this appears negligent and actionable in court, this is why I am supporting a challenge if the Mayor passes the development.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND CHEQUES FOR THE LEGAL CAMPAIGN NOW, IF THE MAYOR PASSES THE DEVOPMENT WE WILL POST AN UPDATE ON THE SITE FOR DONATION DETAILS. WE WIILL NOT BE COLLECTING CASH.
