Dear Chadwell Primary Parents
Requesting your Governing Body write to Michael Gove MP to call in
the Tesco Toxic Towers
This development has recently been passed by Sadiq Khan. I request
your governing body write to Mr Gove, the Secretary of State for housing, who
has the power to stop this development for the following reasons:
BHRUT, the
local NHS trust, has supplied child death and illness statistics for their
catchment period over a two year period which are at the above site. The
postcode RM6 has four child deaths linked to air pollution for the period. This
is a disproportionate number of the total 38 deaths. RM6 also has a
disproportionate number of child hospital admissions linked to air pollution.
There is a sharp drop in both deaths and hospital admissions in the
year following lockdown. Neither Sadiq Khan nor Redbridge Council sought out
the exact postcodes (BHRUT will not publish give me the exact postcodes) to
determine the real health risks to the proposed residents of the 1280 homes on
the site. The Mayor used modelling and air quality measurements instead of real
deaths and hospital admissions when passing the Tesco Development.
Correlation is not causation but the statistics at the above blog
deserve further work. For these reasons I suggest your governing body write to
Mr Gove requesting he call in the Tesco development and carry out an
investigation into the real risks of building at the Tesco site to your
children. This is because should the Towers go ahead there will be significant
numbers of polluting HGVs along with construction dust which seem bound to put
your child’s health at risk.
Other significant developments are planned at Homebase, the White
Horse and Seven Kings Car Park which also make pollution worse.
