Will Tesco step up and insist on the best quality air filters for their Toxic Towers?
In the Sunday Telegraph today Prof Lewis makes the case for a "tyre tax" due to PM 2.5 being a threat to health from electric vehicle tyres see https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-sunday-telegraph/20220529/281904481803682
Prof Lewis says “PM 2.5 is considered to cause the largest amount of damage to public health, nitrogen dioxide comes second."
Redbridge Council is refusing these planning conditions:
1 - Highest specification air pollution filters to include particulates as well as NO2 to be installed. The specification is published in the planning condition.
2- Schedule of maintenance of filters above to go on developer's estate management website with updates showing when maintenance has taken place.
per my post of 10th May 2022.
While I hope a legal challenge to the Tesco Toxic Towers can take place, it seems best to mitigate the damage to residents' health at the proposed towers by installing the best quality filters.
There are various specifications for filters per the article below:
https://www.breathingspace.co.uk/how-to-choose-an-air-purifier-to-remove-traffic-pollutants-i115
If Tesco accept the best quality air filters for the residents at their proposed towers, the next aim should be to encourage Tesco to offer air quality home filters for vulnerable residents nearby with diseases linked to air pollution.
