Dear Residents
The deception which happened on
the night the Tesco Toxic Towers was passed deserves to be challenged!
The good news is I am delighted to say our legal
team will lodge an application for judicial review at the High Court on Monday
11th. The bad news is that our legal costs will be around £20,000, and if we lose,
I will be liable for at least £15K in costs. I will be fund raising on the
Crowdfunder site on Monday after the application is lodged at:
crowdjustice.com/case/stop-the-tesco-toxic-towers
Our pre-action letter is at a post on stopthetescotoxictowers.blogspot.comsite
dated 28th June. One of the grounds relates to Cllr Athwal's promise to
commission a cumulative air quality report for the Tesco, Homebase and Seven
Kings Car Park sites at June and July 2020 Redbridge Cabinet meetings. The
promised report was never published and these seven sites below were chosen
instead for consideration for their cumulative impact - one of them is in
Stratford!
1 - 902-910 Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park
2- 193-207 High Road Ilford
3 -Development above Exchange Car Park, Ilford
4 - 55 Roden Street (Sainsbury’s Supermarket) Ilford
5- 1-7 Station Road and 16-26 Cranbrook Road
Ilford
6- 60-70 Roden Street Ilford
7 - Leyton Road, London E15 1DH
This means the Councillors were misled on the
night when the issue of cumulative report came up. How can we judge if the
Tesco development and others on the High Road present a threat to vulnerable
residents' health when the promised study has not been done?
Regards
Andy Walker
