Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers

C/O 120 Blythswood Road IG3 8SG

Cllr Athwal

Leader of Redbridge Council                                                21st August 2022

Dear Cllr Athwal

Request for you to withdraw Council’s request for an unlimited costs application in the Tesco Toxic Towers Judicial review

We welcome your commendable work helping children by taking supplies to the Ukrainian border and your work towards the Council becoming a UNICEF-accredited “Child Friendly Borough”

We quote from the Council website at redbridge.gov.uk/childfriendly/the-child-friendly-unicef-programme/

“In a Child Friendly Community all children:

·       Have a say about decisions that affect them

·       Can express their views freely and are encouraged and supported to do that

·       Can access good health, education, transport and other services

·       Feel safe and protected from discrimination and harm”

In light of this we would be grateful if you could withdraw your Council’s request for an unlimited costs application in the Tesco Toxic Towers Judicial Review. Barley Lane and Chadwell primary school governing bodies expressed concerns about air pollution and objected to the proposed development.

Should the council application succeed the Judicial Review will be withdrawn and the voice of vulnerable children will not be heard at the High Court.
