Dear Residents

Leafleting outside Tesco this Sunday 7th August between midday and 3pm

The stop the Tesco Toxic Towers campaign team will be leafleting outside the Tesco store at the junction of the High Road and Goodmayes Road at the top of the ramp leading to the store this Sunday. We will be distributing leaflets plugging the Crowdfunder below:

or scan QR code at

Any donations from £5 upwards to the costs of taking the Council to court to stop the Tesco Toxic Towers are very welcome.

We will also be collecting paper signatures for this petition below which is also on line at change.org/KidsLivesMatter

"We the undersigned who live or work in Redbridge note that:

Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals Trust have reported 55 child deaths at King George and Queens hospitals linked to air pollution for a three year period ending March 2022. The trust will not release the full postcodes of the dead children so we cannot tell if living close to a road is a factor in these deaths. And asks:

1 Redbridge Council to investigate these deaths to discover if living close to a busy road is a factor in these deaths.

2 Write to Sadiq Khan, the London Mayor requesting a London wide study of child deaths linked to air pollution takes place.

The petitioners would welcome the proposed two studies above to allow policy makers and the public to be informed about the risks of building housing close to roads”

1500 signatures mean I get 5 minutes to talk to all Redbridge Councillors. My expectation is that if the Council investigates child deaths linked to air pollution, the outcome will be that there are many more children who, like Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, will have had air pollution as a contributory cause of death. Any such a finding would put pressure on Tescos not to build at the site. Tescos contractors are refusing to specify the type of air filters they are proposing at flats at the most polluted locations calling into doubt how seriously they taking child health. If you can help out for an hour this Sunday it would be much appreciated, please give me a call on 07956 263088 if you have any questions.

Regards

Andy Walker
