Mayor Khan needs to say no to School on busy road at Tesco Toxic Towers at meeting on 2nd November
The Mayor is against school playgrounds being in polluted environments see School Audits
The first bullet point regarding school audits says
- "moving school entrances and play areas away from busy roads"
The primary school proposed for the Tesco Toxic Towers has the school entrance away from the High Road. However, the playground is on the roof. The Council and the developer have air filters to the seven floors to flats adjacent to the school. This means the children will be breathing in toxic unfiltered air when they are playing.
Either the playground needs to be moved into the development or even better the entire school should be moved inside the development to keep children away from the polluting road.
My question to Mayor Khan
Do you agree that the proposed school at the Goodmayes Tesco Toxic Towers development should be moved away from the polluting High Road in order to comply with your policy to keep playgrounds away from busy roads?
No guarantee of being called this evening, but the issue won't go away.
