Dear Residents

Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers!

Public Meeting 8pm Monday 6th March 2023 8pm Methodist Church Hall, Percy Road IG3 8UA

Stop the Homebase Dust Petition

I and another campaigner knocked on doors in Goodmayes Avenue last week to plug the above meeting on 6th March. We were concerned when residents reported construction dust entering their homes. I tweeted the Council about this on 1st March and had no reply. I then attended a Council meeting on 2nd March and raised the issue and still have not received a written reply. As a consequence, I have started this petition which is available online at change.org/HomebaseDustHazard

We the undersigned residents who live or work in Redbridge note the following.

a) There have been reports of construction dust from the former Homebase site on Goodmayes High Road entering residents’ homes on Goodmayes Avenue. b) Construction dust can be toxic and damage health. c) “Guidance on the assessment of dust from demolition and construction” from the Institute of Air Quality Management provides guidance to developers on how to minimise dust on construction sites to protect residents. d) That Fairview New Homes Ltd’s most recent accounts show a dividend of £125M.

And requests Redbridge Council

1) Send the residents of Goodmayes Avenue the council approved dust management plan to clearly set out how dust is monitored showing the thresholds at which the Council will intervene if required and the dates the Council has monitored air quality on Goodmayes Avenue along with their written reports.

2) Future dates for when Council Officers will be monitoring Goodmayes Avenue for dust levels and an assurance that Goodmayes Avenue residents will be sent copies of the reports

How we can persuade the Council to act on dust along Goodmayes Avenue will be discussed at the meeting on the 6th March along with how it relates to the Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers campaign

Regards
