Dear Residents
New wing for King George Wing Meeting
Ilford Town Hall Tonight 8pm 17th July
This a meeting to campaign for a new
wing for King George Hospital. King George and Queens Hospitals often have some
of the most seriously ill type one 4-hour wait A&E statistics in England.
Research shows long waits in A&E
lead to longer stays in hospital and higher death rates. The standard of care seems
set to get worse due to the ever-increasing East London population.
An extension to King George is being
built with two additional theatres. However, this is not enough to make a
significant difference to the A&E performance. More in-patient beds need to be provided in
order to improve care.
We are asking for Redbridge Council to
write to Barking Havering and Redbridge University Trust, who manage King
George and Queens Hospitals requesting they put in a bid for extra funding to
build the new wing.
If you cannot make the meeting but are
supportive of the cause, please write to Cllr Athwal, the Leader of Redbridge
Council to ask for his support for our campaign.
There will be a photo shoot
before the new wing for King George Meeting on the 17th July at
7:15pm outside the site of the proposed Bodgers 42 storey tower, opposite
Ilford Railway station to call for safer dual staircases, rather than the
single staircase planned.
The new high-rise towers planned
will mean a substantial increase in the East London population. It must be
right to build additional capacity at the King George Hospital site to cope with
the increased population.
