 Dear Residents Residents
public meeting: 8pm Monday 25th September at Methodist Church Hall, Percy Road IG3 8DQ: No Fair Trial for Tesco Toxic Towers Campaign!

The meeting will discuss matters arising from our July meeting and agenda will go up on the site before the meeting. I regret to say we lost our stop the Tesco Toxic Towers Judicial Review at the Court of Appeal. The judgment is at the above site. Our strongest point, that the proposed school should be set inside the development rather than beside the High Road, was ignored. Instead, the courts found that the right time for litigation about the school is when the school layout plan is published. This is clearly a nonsense as the school layout plan could be published when the rest of the estate is built so making the location of the school a very difficult point to litigate about. I have paid Weston Homes and the council a total of £15,000 towards their costs. It is important that the community contribute towards these costs. This is because we need to make it clear that to Tesco and the Council that any future litigation over the Tesco development or other High Rise planned locally has the support of residents. GoFundMe seems to have a good site for fund raising and I have drafted a petition to assist with fund raising, which if we can hit 1,500 signatures means I get a 5 minute presentation in front of all Redbridge Councillors. First draft of petition is We the undersigned who live or work in Redbridge note: 1) The application for judicial review on air quality grounds to stop the proposed development on Goodmayes High Road termed the “Tesco Toxic Towers” by campaigners was refused on 14th August 2023 2) That Redbridge Councillors must complete and publish a register of interests on the Redbridge Council Website in order to maintain public confidence in their planning decisions. 3) That a Weston Homes spokesperson was quoted in the Ilford Recorder on the 8th November “…we await the hearing and look forward to implementing our scheme once we receive a final decision from the court.” 4) UK judges do not complete a register of interests And asks Redbridge Council to: a) Install air quality monitors along the High Road spanning the area between the Tesco Development and the Homebase Development and support the call for local child death and hospital admission statistics to be sent to an academic to discover if the large number of lorries and construction dust is damaging residents’ health b) Write to the Prime Minister to ask that Judges complete and publish a register of interests to maintain public confidence in their decisions on planning issues.
 Regards
