Dear Residents
Residents
public meeting: 8pm Monday 19h February 2024 at Methodist
Church Hall, Percy Road IG3 8DQ: Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers! Why Weston pulling
out of major Norwch Development is good news.
The
BBC reported on 7th February in an headlined “Norwich Anglia Square
developer quits regeneration project” The development was more high rise future
slums. The BBC say key reasons for Weston quitting were: “delays after the
government called in the scheme for a public inquiry and funding changes”
Weston are the developers behind the Tesco Toxic Towers, our campaign has already
caused a substantial delay because of our first judicial review. Should we be
able to fund a second court challenge, Weston may go elsewhere in order to make
a quicker profit.
Planning
Committee issues misleading guidance
At my twitter and
Facebook pages there is a recording of the borough solicitor advising councillors
that NHS capacity has nothing to do with their deliberations for the huge high
rise development planned for Sainsburys in central Ilford.
This is not the case I quote from
the national planning framework.
“To ensure faster delivery of other public service
infrastructure such as further education colleges, hospitals and criminal
justice accommodation, local planning authorities should also work proactively
and positively with promoters, delivery partners and statutory bodies to plan
for required facilities and resolve key planning issues before applications are
submitted.”
I do not believe that Redbridge Council is pushing the NHS
hard enough for more hospital places and GP places.
In particular, the Labour Party is refusing to campaign for
a new wing for King George Hospital.
The next campaign meeting for a new wing for King George is
on 15th July 2024 at Redbridge Town Hall. A good turnout on the day
will help the both the campaign to stop the Tesco Toxic Towers and a better NHS
locally.
The above and
other issues will be discussed at the meeting. Donations can be made at gofund.me/8365c858
for legal advice about the merits of a second judicial review.
Regards
Andy Walker
