Dear Residents

Residents public meeting: 8pm Monday 20th May 2024 at Methodist Church Hall, Percy Road IG3 8DQ: Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers:

Housing Overcrowding update – Labour made a public commitment at a filmed Council meeting of 25th March to provide information to me  about overcrowding in our borough. I am pursuing my legal right to this information as it may be helpful to our campaign if overcrowding has not improved as a consequence of high rise going up. If overcrowding is unchanged or worse, it suggests an alternative policy of the council buying homes for vulnerable families and letting them at a discounted rent will help low income families in our borough more than high rise for profit. Other European capitals provide higher levels of publicly owned housing so it must be possible for London to do the same.

Information requests relating to help our case for overdevelopment have been sent to BHRUT and can be seen at whatdotheyknow.com

The above and other issues will be discussed at the meeting. Donations for our second judicial review can be made at gofund.me/8365c858

Together with cash donations we stand at £895, a further £125 means we reach 6% of the initial target of £17,000. £17,000 sounds a lot, but a search of the internet shows other community groups have managed to raise far in excess of this figure.
