Canvassing support for our campaign with local organisations

I am writing to people and  organisations who maybe supportive of our campaign with a view to writing to the Council on the 1st December. The more organisations we have on board the easier the fundraising will be. The Freedom of Information request mentioned is at my what they know page.

Email is below

Introduction

The attached freedom of information document from Redbridge Council dated 26 November 2025 includes an undated NHS letter showing Redbridge Labour have failed to ask Tesco and/or Weston Homes for £1.9M for NHS funding available using Regulation 122 of the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010.

The NHS letter states that without mitigation the Tesco development will “lead to a clear and material worsening of access to health services.”

The mitigation proposed by the NHS is a medical facility on the “Goodmayes Retail Park” . However, a search on the Redbridge planning site shows no application has been made at this site. So it seems reasonable to assume that there may be never be an application at the Goodmayes Retail Park. This allows us to argue that Labour should seek £1.9M from Tesco and/or Weston homes and request that the current plan is adjusted to include a medical facility on the Tesco site.

Suggested draft letter

Dear Cllr Rai, Leader of the Council & Robert Lancaster, Head of planning

Tesco Goodmayes Application

A recent freedom of information reply attached gives us cause for concern that Redbridge may not have asked Tesco and/or Weston Homes for £1.9M funding available for an NHS facility. Please can you tell us if you have written to ask for the £1.9M and if not why not?

Secondly, the NHS identify the Goodmayes Retail Park as a suitable site for a medical facility to improve health care . A search of your site does not show an application at this site. Will you be writing to Tesco and/or Weston Homes to amend their Goodmayes site application to include a medical facility? And if not why not?

Regards

Andy
