Stop the Tesco Toxic Towers Public Meeting:

8pm Monday 2nd February 2026 Methodist Church Hall

Dear Residents

Our campaign has taken a small stop forward because Redbridge Planning Department has pushed back a decision about whether the new Tesco plan is acceptable to go to planning committee until 30th April 2026. The new plan is defective because the local NHS have written to the Council to say:

Despite acknowledging this high baseline pressure, the ES [Environmental Statement] does not propose any mitigation for primary care impacts. While it references anticipated planning obligations “to relevant social infrastructure,” no provision is made for health. Based on the proposed development of 1,379 homes, local patient numbers would rise considerably, increasing the average GP-to-patient ratio across local practices to approximately 1:4,211. This represents a clear and material worsening of access to health services.” (my emphasis) ENDS quote

The NHS emails can be found at QR code above.

I raised this issue with Mr Trainer, the Chief Executive of BHRUT, the Trust managing King George and Queens at a meeting on 15/01/26 and he agreed to write to Redbridge Council on the matter. See the video at QR code below:
